Elevate Your Energy: How Breathwork Can Raise Your Vibration
7 Ways to Align, Uplift, and Transform Your Energy
We hear it all the time; these little anecdotes about raising our vibration, changing our energy, attracting our vibe, but what does that actually mean? And how can I do it?
Everything in the universe is deeply connected through an energy or vibration. This includes your thoughts and emotions. We all know that when you are happy you emote a different vibrational field than when you are sad or mad. And we can recognize these fields in other people very easily. You’ve probably had that experience at some point in your life where you just knew someone had bad intentions or sensed two people falling in love.
It’s all energy.
Your vibration is essentially the rate at which energy moves. The higher the frequency the faster the vibration moves, while the lower frequencies tend to be more sluggish.
When you meet someone living in a “high vibration” it simply means that they carry an energy that vibrates at a high frequency.
Generally, we enjoy being around people with a high vibration as it is often linked to a feeling of joy and positivity that we all want. Just being around these high vibrational beings shifts and moves our energy. These people seem to influence their surroundings and have positive interactions wherever they go. And it’s true! Because they are in alignment with the rhythm of life. They’re in flow. Their outer world and inner world are a match and so they can influence the world around them more readily, helping them to feel more balanced, connected, and aligned.
At some point in your life, you’ve probably been in a similar flow state where you exuded an almost magnetic field. Attracting to you with ease and grace all that you desired. The trick is to find a way to access this high vibrational state more frequently.
But how?
How can one stay so up and positive when the world around them is crumbling? When there are wars, prejudices, and inequalities? How can one stay positive when there are bills to pay, relationships to mend, and work politics to manage?
The answer is in your breath.
The way you breathe creates an energetic vibration within you. It flows to and from you with every breath, creating the energy field around you.
Your breath is the bridge between the internal and external world. Here are 7 ways you can actively move into a higher vibration by utilizing your breath.
- Slow, Deep Breathing
When you breathe deeply through your nose, filling your belly round and the ribcage expands, you are actively guiding your breath deeper into your body. This activates your parasympathetic nervous system which helps calm your mind. Follow that with a smooth, slow exhale and you release tension and stress you might not even know you’re holding. This naturally raises your vibration because you are signaling your body to relax which is a higher vibration than stress and overwhelm. High-vibration individuals experience stress just like you and I but use slow deep breathing to handle challenges calmly and with grace.
2. Breath Retention and Suspension
Your natural flow of breath contains these beautiful pauses that happen both at the top and bottom of your breath. These pauses create stillness from within, so when you actively practice elongating these retentions (top of inhale) and suspensions ( bottom of exhale), you are practicing being more still, more present, and more aware. This gives you pause from your day to just notice what is. By taking time to do this you become more emotionally stable because you are training yourself to become aware without reacting. Then you can take that pause into your life and show up more responsive in otherwise triggering or tense situations.
A great exercise here is box breathing. Helping to focus the mind while raising your emotional vibration.
3. Active the Vagus Nerve
The Vagus Nerve is the longest cranial nerve in your body. It runs from your brainstem down through your neck, chest, and even into your abdomen. It is connected to your heart, lungs, and digestive tract. Activate this nerve by humming during yoga, or a breath practice.
We all know how powerful singing is for improving our mood so I suggest Bhramari Pranayama or Bee Breathing to enhance your vibration! Continue with that deep belly breathing but place your thumbs in your ears and let your fingers melt over your eyes. Now hum as you exhale. Let it resonate from the back of your throat and feel the vibration in your face and head. Notice your mind immediately quiet and as your inner harmony is shifted into balance.
4. Circular Breathing
When you consciously move your breath in a circular motion (inhaling and exhaling without pause) your body becomes active and alive. This is a form of trance that can have a DMT or psychedelic effect on the body. It shuts down the prefrontal cortex or the thinking mind so you can be open to insights without the stories your ego has created about your life. There is a lot of power in this type of breathing because you can actively feel your energy rise. Creating an opportunity to focus your thoughts on high vibrational outcomes without the critical mind getting in the way. This enables you to use your mind like a magnet attracting positivity just by vibrating on a higher frequency.
Circular breathing is safe for most people but should be used sparingly because of the powerful energy it surges through your body.
5. Breath of Fire
Move stagnation stuck in the body by pumping more energy into your system. Breath of Fire is the go-to breath practice of Kundalini Yoga. It’s done by using your belly as a pump. Exhale out the nose while pulling the belly in. Try about 20 rounds to start. Don’t worry about the inhales as they will happen naturally and on their own. Guide all your attention on the sharp fast exhales and you will quickly feel your heat rise along with your vibration. A great practice to do when you first wake up, before a workout, or for a sluggish afternoon low.
High-vibration individuals are on the move. They don’t let a bad day turn into a bad week. They move that energy through the body before it gets stuck there and Breath of Fire is an excellent practice for feeling a quick release of what’s been weighing you down. Tension leaves and gratitude rises.
6. Consistency Breeds Compassion
Breathwork is like anything else. Its benefits are enhanced by setting up a consistent time and place to breathe. The more connected you are to your natural rhythm of breath the stronger your intuition becomes about what feels in alignment for you. This greater sense of inner wisdom is something you can turn to for guidance. A deep trust in your decision-making process puts you in tune with your values. High Vibrational humans exude this confident energy that comes from compassion built over time.
7. Trust in Your Voice
When you are stressed or living in overwhelm your breath becomes shallow and labored. As opposed to when you are living in joy and abundance and your breath is deep and smooth. When you want to raise your vibrational energy you can tune in to your breath. It will help you speak your truth because your breath will always tell you what frequency your energy is on. This helps you to speak and act from an honest place, Even when it feels hard this form of self-respect has a ripple effect that inspires others to act with more integrity too. This reminds us that to be in high vibration is not always easy, but it is always aligning us to our truth.
Your breath will always tell you what frequency your energy is on.
A Sense of Joy for life itself seems to pour out of high-vibrational humans, which is why they are often called to a greater purpose. You will find them serving their community, working for a cause, helping the less fortunate, and living in service to others. Living a life of service is a super attractor because it takes us out of the ego mind and places us in a sea of understanding and compassion. This positively attracts more synchronicities into their life helping them align more fluidly with their goals and dreams.
Living in a high vibration is a choice. One that gets easier the more you are aware of how you’re choosing to show up. By embracing these breath practices you can elevate your own life and begin to positively impact the world around you.
